Tweaking the Plan & Rolling with the Punches

Updated: Jun 16, 2021

We've got some traction folks!! The shower is done, toilet is fixed and we are moving right along!

I've always been a firm believer in everything happens for a reason, but for some reason, I keep stressing with each road block instead of going with the flow. Finding the balance between firm and flexible has been a challenge this week but I think we are on the way.

Rolling with the Punches:

Color pallette 🎨:

Problem: My design plan went from warm with a pop of color in my head to looking a bit more stark white. The floors won't be brown wood tile but a cool beautiful white-grey vibe that is the same as the shower.

On the flip side my Penny tile went ALL THE WAY RIGHT!!! 🙌🏾

Solution: OWN IT 😉

I'm going to stick with what I'm drawn to and keep my pop of color. I've just got to finalize my color pop! The good news about white is it pairs well with everything.

Board and batten:

Problem: Boy has the cost of wood went up 😬.

Solution: I'm going with a less costly, more traditional look than I anticipated.

Originally I wanted to do fluted wood trim around the entire space, but I'm taking it a bit more simplistic and using color to create the vibe I envisioned.

Brown wood floor tile:

Problem: Did you know tile can be discontinued? I did, but I sure didn't think it would happen to me (ha). Well it did, and I definitely stumbled this week because of it🥴.

After going to 4 stores that carried tile, I stumbled upon a shop that had the closest look, by far!!! Shout out to Floors for Living for the win!!

Solution: We have a make it work moment people, so this is our little secret 😉. When it's all done, I'll have you tell me if you notice the difference.

"Vanity Affairs"

Problem: The vanity was too wide and blocked access to the toilet. I have to get the less functional yet better spacing alternative known as a pedestal sink.

Solution: My plan is to look for something unique instead of a traditional look. Something that is more modern, but timeless. I'm sure it exists right?

This week has been full of "Option B's". I'm still loving this whole project and blessed to have the opportunity to push my ability to design a space.

This coming weeks plan:

It's going to be a busy one for me! It's all the DIY part 😁.

Complete Board and Batten

Wallpaper the space

Paint

At least that's the goal, but I'll just keep rolling with the punches! 😉
