The One Room Challenge is a virtual challenge that allows professionals to share their skills with the virtual world. I love that the ORC also allows people with a passion in interior design or decor to participate and challenge their own abilities. This challenge really pushed me outside my comfort zone. Many times I felt I was in over my head but I kept going. I couldn't be happier with the results and share it with you!
The Office
This project wasn't my space. My mother in love wanted to surprise my father in love with an office space in their home. She wanted something fun but functional, that was his space. The surprise factor was definitely the challenging part. I didn't know if he would like it or not but he really loved it.
The Sketch
The PegBoard
I drew this sketch of my plan. I had already started looking at furniture for the space. I loved the sketched wall, but for whatever reason the wall was not what I was thinking of for function for an office. I thought, what if I could do a pegboard with shelves? I pulled out my handy-dandy pinterest and came across this super cool and functional pegboard by @vintagerevival
She is super talented and if you want to learn how to create a peg board feature wall her directions on her blog are perfect!
I tweaked the board length, width between each peg, and made my own pegs with 3/4 in. dowels.
I drilled, stained and cut everything to size. I painted the pegboard and worked on the room color.
The Walls
I used Behr Paint (black) for real, just black... And Ivory Tusk for the other 3 walls.
